Tuna with Sesame Ginger Dipping Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh tuna loin cut into 2-inch thick strips
  • 1/2 cup Creole mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2/3 cup sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable olive or peanut oil

Dipping Sauce

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh gingerroot minced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Asian chili-garlic sauce or Tabasco

Combine all ingredients in a container with a tight-fitting lid and shake vigorously to blend flavors.

    Instructions

    • Combine Creole mustard, sesame oil, soy sauce and sesame seeds in a large bowl. Add tuna and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 1 – 6 hours. Heat oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet and lightly brown tuna, but not past medium-rare. Slice into 1/4-inch thick slices and arrange on platter. Serve with dipping sauce.
