Bourbon Barbecue Sauce
For best results, let this mix sit in the fridge to let the flavors marry for a few days. Try sub’ing whiskey in here if you don’t have bourbon available. This sauce will work on pretty much any game and fish – and is especially good on the grill.
Bourbon Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 onion finely diced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 garlic cloves minced
- 2 lemons sliced
- pinch red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1 cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onions and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add brown sugar and stir to blend. Cook for 2 minutes more. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 10 minutes over medium low heat, stirring often. Remove lemons before serving.
