Onion, Jalapeno and Cranberry Relish

Serve this at your holiday gatherings instead of your usual cranberry relish. Most people won’t believe how well jalapeño and cranberries go together. But you know, because you read this. Works on any game meat.


Onion, Jalapeno and Cranberry Relish


Can be made several days in advance.

  • 3 tbls olive oil
  • 4 cups onion diced
  • 2 – 3 jalapeno peppers seeded and minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • pinch black pepper
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 cup red wine vinegar


  • Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add onions, jalapeno, salt and pepper. Cook until onions are light brown, stirring occasionally. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer, uncovered, until liquid is evaporated, about 20 -25 minutes. Serve warm.
